En visite officielle en Indonésie, le Président de la République, Marc Ravalomanana, a adressé une lettre de félicitations au candidat Barack Obama à l’occasion de son élection au poste du Président des Etats-Unis d’Amérique. Voici la teneur de cette lettre de félicitations, signée par le Président de la République de Madagascar, Marc Ravalomanana, en date du 5 novembre 2008, rédigée en anglais.
Dear Mr President,
On the occasion of Your election as the next President of the United States of America, on behalf of the People and the Government of Madagascar, I would like to convey my sincerest congratulations and my best wishes to You and the People of America.
Your historic victory is important to all of us. Change has come to America, but change has to come to the world. We all face global major challenges. No country can face them alone. We need to strengthen our solidarity and work hard to overcome them together with understanding, determination, courage, and optimism.
Madagascar will host the African Union Summit in 2009. We are confident that America and Africa will open a new chapter of cooperation to open new doors of opportunities for our peoples.
